It's amazing how far 50p can go! An inspired idea from pupils at Princes Risborough Primary School
not only created a day of fun for the school but also raised funds for their favourite charity,
The Horse Trust. Each child from the school marked their name on a 50p piece and placed it on the school hall floor to form the shape of the school's logo, Whiteleaf Cross. Then a marker was thrown on to the cross and the coin it landed on won its donor a visit to the Horse Trust's Home of Rest for Horses in Speen.
The winner and the three girls who thought up the idea for the event had a wonderful day with the horses, including spending a happy hour with grooms Sam Donald and Allison Johnson learning how to care for and groom a horse. All four enjoyed brushing Ruby, a 16-hand bay mare from the HAC Light Cavalry, and she lapped up the attention of these budding horse enthusiasts.
The money raised from the event meant that a generous cheque was presented to The Horse Trust by the children to continue the work with the horses, ponies and donkeys which are enjoying their retirement at the Trust.
