Spring Clean for The Horse Trust

Clutter Means Cash for Charity

Early Spring Early spring sunshine may be prompting a clear-out of unwanted ornaments – or even investigating the contents of garage and loft. But before chucking unwanted items away, remember that your clutter could make you money, turn you into a star of BBC TV and help The Horse Trust into the bargain.

Reef Television is looking for families to appear in its new show for BBC1. The show’s experts will help people recycle, refurbish and repair unwanted items to raise money for themselves and a good cause.

Half of the money the selected family raises from their clutter clear-out will be for a personal project; the other half will be donated to a good cause of their choice – such as The Horse Trust, which is bursting at the seams with retired and rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.

Founded in 1886 and based at Speen, Buckinghamshire, the Trust runs the popular Home of Rest for Horses, is the oldest horse charity in the UK and the largest provider of grant funding for equine welfare. It costs on average £15 a day or £5,500 a year to keep each horse at the Home – and that’s not counting the cost of expensive veterinary treatment which may be required for sick or rescued animals.

The producers want to link filming at The Horse Trust with filming a local family – so if you live in or near Buckinghamshire, want to be considered for filming and are prepared to help The Horse Trust, please contact Nicola Webb at Reef TV on 020 7836 8595 or email nicola.webb@reeftv.com.
