Lancelot, a 26 year-old Irish Draught horse, recently retired from The Royal Mews at Windsor Castle has been reunited with his old friend Otto at The Home of Rest for Horses at Speen, Buckinghamshire.
Both are favourites of Her Majesty The Queen, whom Lancelot served for many years. The 16.2 hand black gelding carried The Royal Standard at Trooping the Colour for just over 20 years and most recently escorted royal guests during rides in Windsor Great Park.
Shirley Abbott, Yard Manager of The Home said: "Lancelot and Otto immediately reforged the bond they had shared during their working lives. It is amazing how horses remember each other. Otto retired here last year but, as soon as Lancelot was turned out to graze with him, it was as if they had never been parted."
