The Horse Trust has been providing grants in support
of equine welfare since 1965. The Trust has grown
to become the leading provider of such grants in the
UK. All the work The Trust supports is aimed at improving
the welfare of as wide a spectrum of the horse population
as possible.
The Horse Trust awards 4 main types of grants:
Scientific Research Projects
Clinical Training Scholarships
Clinical Awards
Clinical Facility and Equipment Awards
Applications must
be submitted by 1st May
each year.
The Horse Trust also supports other projects which
are aimed at promoting responsible horse ownership.
The Trust has sponsored the publication of many equine
welfare leaflets of this kind including the
Equine Welfare Guidelines Compendium. Click

The basic criteria for applications are that they
should reflect The Horse Trust's mission and be recommended
by its scientific committee and by external peer reviewers.
Organisations eligible to apply are veterinary schools
and other university departments, research institutes
and charities in the United Kingdom that have an interest
in the horse. Veterinary practices with registered
equine hospitals may also apply for the equine scholarships
and appropriately qualified individuals may apply
for clinical awards.
