Horse Trust On Facebook

Iceland at The Horse Trust Horse Charity The charity has set up a page on Facebook, where people can get an insight into the day-to-day running of the sanctuary, meet other horse lovers and get advice on horse feed and feed management.

Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the UK - it is visited by 47 percent of Britons that are online and averaged 12.5 million visitors per month in 2008, according to Nielsen Online*.

"We're very excited to have an official profile on such a popular website. We believe that Facebook is a great way to let people know what's happening at the sanctuary, and help them meet other horse lovers," said Susan Lewis, Marketing Manager at The Horse Trust.

The Horse Trust plans to use its Facebook page to give people an insight into the day-to-day running of the Home of Rest for Horses and updates on the individual horses at the sanctuary, as well as keeping people up-to-date with the charity's news.

"Visitors to the Home of Rest often ask us questions about how we look after our elderly residents - what we feed them, what care they need and so on. We hope to provide this information on our Facebook page, as well as giving people updates about the horses that live here," said Susan.

People can also get advice on horse feed and feed management from Lizzie Drury MSc R.Nutr on the Facebook discussion page. Lizzie works as a senior nutritionist for Saracen Horse Feeds, a company that The Horse Trust has worked with for a number of years to get advice on feed management for the geriatric horses, donkeys and ponies living at the Home of Rest.
