Charities Work Well Together
The Home of Rest for Horses, the oldest horse charity in the world, has donated funds for a £2,000 Round Pen School at
Greatwood Caring for Retired Racehorses in Wiltshire, which specialises in the care of retired racehorses.
A number of flat-bred horses arrive at this charity each year many of whom may not have been out to grass for a long time. Greatwood's
rehabilitation policy is to allow them to graze for several months to learn herd behaviour and interact with their fellow residents.
The Pen will help to curtail their inevitable excitement at being let out for the first time and will provide a controlled environment
for exercise of injured horses returning from box rest.
Helen Yeadon of Greatwood said, "This field pen will prove invaluable to Greatwood for our recuperation work, enabling us to school horses
in a confined area, so ensuring the safety of both animal and rider. We are very grateful to The Home of Rest for Horses for their generosity."
