Lovelorn Donkey Finds New Friend
Pandora the miniature donkey, devastated by the death of her daughter, has found comfort in a new friendship with the hinny Briar at The Home of Rest for Horses, Speen, Buckinghamshire.
Now well into her 50s, Pandora's age is not unusual for a donkey but they rarely survive the loss of a life partner, especially when it is their own offspring. But the meeting with Briar has
given Pandora a new lease of life and she has gone from strength to strength.
Charli Pardon, head groom at The Home said, "It is a delight to see this new friendship blossoming. I was very concerned for Pandora, who has never been without the companionship of her daughter
St Chloe since she gave birth to her more than 30 years ago."
"The two donkeys arrived at The Home in a very poor state and, sadly St Chloe did not survive. But Pandora, despite her years, looks amazing and it gives me such pleasure to see her friendship with Briar."
Pandora and Briar share a stable, enjoy each others' company and can be visited by the public between 2 and 4 pm every day of the week.
