A weight off our minds!
The Home of Rest for Horses in Buckinghamshire has stepped into the 21st century by investing in a set of horse weighing scales. Up until now The Home has been relying on a tried
and tested method of assessing its’ residents body weight. A body score tape was placed around the horse’s, pony’s or donkey’s girth and its weight recorded in kilogrammes.
The Home's Horse Weigh machine is a simple mobile platform which weighs the horse automatically as it walks across it and records an accurate digital read-out.
This accuracy enables the yard staff to fine tune a horse's feeding programme, and calculate precise dosages for worm treatment, vitamins, pain relief and antibiotics.
The Home of Rest for Horses is confident that The Horse Weigh will be an effective tool in the management and care of its elderly population.
Brigadier Paul Jepson, Chief Executive and resident Veterinary Surgeon of The Home says, "The Horse Weigh beats the old system by miles.
We are certain that our care has always been of the most impeccable standard but this new machine will enable our staff to assess an
individual horse’s needs accurately and with the utmost confidence."
