Scottish Scholar Makes Her Mark
Elizabeth Barr, who was educated in Ayr and graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School, has just completed a Clinical
Scholarship funded by The Home of Rest for Horses.
During her scholarship in Equine Orthopaedic Surgery at Liverpool University Elizabeth gained experience in equine
orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and equine medicine. As part of the funding Elizabeth produced scientific papers
which resulted in her attaining the RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 2004.
Elizabeth said, "The Home of Rest for Horses has allowed me the opportunity to spend 3 years in an environment of clinical
and educational excellence. It is my aim to continue to develop my skills to further improve the welfare of the horse."
Since completing her scholarship in April Elizabeth has acted as a locum equine orthopaedic surgeon at The University of Liverpool.
In August, she joined a specialist equine practice in Lambourn, Berkshire.
